Statistics Module

The Cactus League Professional Basketball for Windows Statistics Module offers features and flexibility not available in any other sports simulation. Of course, you can display all of the standard actual and replay statistics, but this module offers lots more.

Let's Take A Tour

Here is a brief tour of the Statistics Module, along with a few examples of the simplicity and power of the module. Click any of these thumbnail pictures for a larger image or download them (the ZIP file is about 5 mb). Screen shots for the new features added to Version 6 are available in this ZIP file (1.5 Mb).

Standard Reports

Dozens of standard statistical reports are included, each with the standard categories in the generally accepted order: Standings, Records vs. Opponents, Team Statistics, Opponents' Statistics, Team Per Game Averages, Individual Statistics, Per Game Averages, Per 48 Minute Averages, Leaders, and Complete Team Reports. You can display Actual and Replay (games you have played) stats for each of these reports with a mouse click on the appropriate tool.

Click on the Individual Per Game Averages tool and the report is displayed for the Active Season and the Active League. Click to enlarge

Sort By Any Statistic In The Report

The report is sorted by the first column, by default, but you can quickly sort it by any column in the report. Here the report is sorted by Field Goal Attempts Per Game:  Click to enlarge

Quickly Change The Look Of A Report

You can format a report in any way you wish, by changing colors, font, font size, font characteristics, etc. Here we have changed the look of the report. You'll also notice that the leaders in each category are underlined. This is just one of the many automatic options you can set for reports. Click to enlarge You can also change the column heading labels. In this example, we've changed the 3 field goal columns to FGM, FGA, and FG Pct.Click to enlarge

Search Box Scores For Specific Accomplishments

Now you can search the box scores of the games you've played for specific accomplishments. Want to know all of the players who scored 50 or more points in a game? Or, players with 20 or more rebounds? Or games that were decided by 20 or more points? Or triple-doubles? You can easily and quickly find these (and a LOT more) with the new, incredibly powerful search engine. This engine includes several queries that have already been designed for you. You just open them and go. Plus, you can design your own and search for an seemingly infinite number of team and individual achievement combinations.

Here is an example from a replay of the 1979-80 season. Let's take a look at all of the triple-doubles. Which player had the most this season? If you said Magic you'd be right. This report is sorted by the players' name, but you can sort it by any category. Version 6 is a slam-dunk! You can see that Magic had 5 triple-doubles and the first one was on October 23, 1979. Want to find out more about that game? Right-click on that line and select Box Score, Scorecard, or Play-By-Play Report. Here is the box score from that game: Go to the hoop with Version 6!

View Quarter-By-Quarter Statistics In Box Scores

Now, in addition to viewing the complete game's statistics when you view a box score, you can view the stats from each quarter. With a box score displayed, just click the 1,2,3, or 4 tool to display that quarter's statistics. Click the 'T' tool to redisplay the complete game's stats. Here is the complete box score from a Celtics/Rockets replay game. Notice the new T, 1, 2, 4, and 4 tools in the toolbar. Cactus knows hoops! You can see that the Celtics made a run in the 4th quarter to almost come-from-behind to win. Want to see who led the charge? Click the 4 tool to see who did what in the 4th quarter: Cactus League is a slam-dunk! You can see that Larry Bird scored 14 of his 31 points in the 4th, but Calvin Murphy took charge for the Rockets, scoring 12 points and holding off the Celtics. Quarter-by-quarter statistics are a fun way to find out even more about how a game played out. You can also view quarter-by-quarter statistics while you are manually playing a game.

View Game Summary

This new report allows you to view a comparison of the teams' statistics during the game, including bench points, biggest lead, number of ties and number of lead changes: Nobody knows basketball like Cactus!

View Player's Game-By-Game Log

Now you can view game-by-game statistics for any player. Let's take a look at the 1979-80 season's leading scorer's Game-By-Game log: Cactus League is a three-point smash! Just like nearly every other report in Cactus League Professional Basketball For Windows, you can sort this one by any category. Here is the report sorted in descending order by points scored. Version 6 is even better! we can easily take a closer look at the "Ice-Man's" best game, by right-clicking on that game and selecting box score: Go to the hoop with Cactus League! You can "drill" even further by clicking the '4' tool and you can see how many points Gervin scored in each quarter of the game.

There Is Lots More

These are just a few examples of the fun you can have with the Cactus League Professional Basketball for Windows Statistics Module. There is similar power and fun in the Simulation Module, AutoSchedule Module, League Management Module, Records Module, and Utility Modules.
