How To Use Non-Cactus Ballpark
Pictures With Creation Date: November 11, 1997 This process is very easy. But, we have documented each step thoroughly to avoid any confusion. Copy all of the picture files that you want to use to the correct folder. Assuming that you used the default installation when you setup the program, the correct folder is: C:\PROGRAM FILES\CACTUS\CACTUS LEAGUE INTERACTIVE BASEBALL\STADIA To copy, use Explorer in Windows 95 or File Manager in Windows 3.1. Ballpark picture files must have a BMP extension to be recognized by the game. Files that have a DIB extension can be used as well, however. Just rename the files so it has a BMP entension. You can change them to whatever you want, within the eight character limit, as long as they end in BMP. Also, there are many conversion programs that can change other picture formats to BMP. The game determines where screen elements are placed, and all your specific park settings (colors of elements, fonts, lineup display conventions, player labels, and everything else) through the use of corresponding .INI files. So, right now, the Camden Yards picture that comes with the game (CAMDEN.BMP) has an .INI file called CAMDEN.INI. In Explorer (or File Manager), find that file and double click on it. It will bring up a window showing some text in it. Click on the FILE command and select SAVE AS. In the "File name" field change CAMDEN.INI to a name that corresponds with your new ballpark name (e.g. ATLANTAD.INI). This will ensure that the settings for Camden Yards will carry over to your new park. Otherwise, you'd have to manually set everything up again. Now, go into the LEAGUE MANAGEMENT module in the game. Click on the STADIUM dot on the bottom of the screen and select a team that you want the new ballpark assigned to... double click on that team. Click on the arrow in the Picture (Day) or Picture (Night) areas...whichever is appropriate. Then, select the file name of the new ballpark. That team's home games will now be played with that backdrop showing. If you like, in the field immediately below the filename, still in the Picture (Day) or Picture (Night) area, type in the name of the park, followed by the city and state/province that is applicable. You don't have to do this, it's only for identification purposes. That's it! When you play a game with that backdrop for the first time,
you may want/have to reposition some of the screen elements, because each ballpark picture
is slightly different. |
